The History of SETEX
Texas based, SETEX Construction Corp. began in 1990 when Mr. Jim Shell, Mr. Jay Jeffries, and Mr. Johnny Landry began their journey into the general contracting world. In 1995, Jim continued SETEX’s growth as a sole proprietor. SETEX would take on various challenges over the next few years, which included two devastating storms, Hurricane Rita and Hurricane Ike. The hurricanes created an opportunity to repair and rebuild Southeast Texas. SETEX was awarded one of the largest hurricane recovery contracts in the area, Dr Martin Luther King Jr. High, worth over 5 million dollars.
In 2009, SETEX was awarded the 23.5 million dollar renovation to Lamar University’s football stadium that would be completed in 2010, which also marked SETEX’s 20th year of existence.
In August of 2014, SETEX continued its growth and success with a transition in ownership to Nathan Rivers as President/Owner of SETEX Construction Corp.
In 2015, SETEX expanded our services to include a new division of the company, Job Order Contracting, with the hire of Division Manager, Michael Waidley. SETEX has multiple State-wide and National Cooperative Purchasing Agreements to assist Clients wherever their construction needs are across the U.S.
In 2018, SETEX was recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the 500 Fastest Growing Privately-Owned companies in America, listed as #478 overall, and ranked 20th in the Construction Industry.
Today, SETEX continues to carry on the tradition of excellence, integrity, and customer service which has been the basis of success of SETEX Construction Corp. since 1990.
